How Your Order Moves

Four stages, start to finish

Every order follows the same disciplined path so nothing falls through the cracks — from the moment we receive your documents to the filed return.

01

Dispatch
Your documents are reviewed, entered into ServeManager, and assigned to the closest qualified server with full instructions and recipient details.

02

Serve
The server makes attempts at varied days and times until the recipient is served — each attempt logged, timestamped, and photographed where allowed.

03

Return of Service
Once served, we prepare the signed return of service, verified under Rule 107, documenting who, when, where, and how — court-ready the day of the serve.

04

E-File
Texas returns of service are e-filed with the court at no charge and acceptance confirmed — closing the loop on your order. Hand filing and out-of-state filings are quoted on request; see E-Filing & Hand Filing.

Service Levels & Turnaround

HOW WE PRIORITIZE YOUR ORDER

Every order gets the same diligent field work and court-ready return — service levels differ only in how quickly we get boots on the ground. If a specific level is required for your matter, just let us know; otherwise we'll infer the appropriate level based on the urgency of your request. The level applied is shown on your ServeManager job.
Service Level First-Attempt Target (SLA) Best For
Routine First attempt within 3–4 business days Often much faster Standard matters with no deadline pressure.
Rush First attempt within 48 hours Approaching deadlines, or you just want it done fast.
Same Day Rush Same-day attempt when received by 2:00 PM Time-sensitive papers that must move today.
Priority Rush Expedited First attempt within 3 hours, or after 2:00 PM High-stakes deadlines needing priority handling.
Immediate Rush Fastest First attempt within 1 to 1.5 hours Emergencies and hearing-eve service.
SLA windows describe the target for the first attempt after documents and instructions are received in good order. Rush cutoffs, holidays, and travel distance to rural or restricted addresses can affect timing — we'll flag anything that puts your SLA at risk.

Diligence you can prove

How many attempts we make

We work an address thoroughly before ever calling it a non-serve — and every attempt is documented to support your case.

4x

Up to 4 attempts
Local addresses receive up to four attempts at varied days and times — mornings, evenings, and weekends — to maximize the chance of service.

3–4×

Remote / out of state
For remote, rural, or out-of-state addresses we make 3–4 attempts, coordinated to account for travel and local server availability.

§

Diligence affidavit

If the recipient can't be served after diligent attempts, we provide a detailed non-serve / diligence affidavit to support a motion for substituted service. When the subject is evasive or the address is in doubt, Encore Legal Investigations prepares the comprehensive Rule 106(b) affidavit and proposed order.

A note on timing. Service-level turnaround targets describe first-attempt goals under normal conditions and are not guarantees of successful service, which depends on the recipient's availability, address accuracy, and access. Encore Legal Process acts as a process server and filing agent, not a law firm, and does not provide legal advice. Alternative or substituted service may require a court order.
